Our sensational second graders had a very busy month! For Multicultural night we explored the continent of Africa. Using Comic Life, our students researched African animals and their habitats. We’d like to thank all of our families for coming out to Multicultural night. Our students worked very hard on their projects and enjoyed sharing them with everyone. Now that the second quarter is under way, we’d like to share some tips for a successful year. Please make sure your child gets plenty of sleep. Studies show that children who do not get enough sleep have difficulty paying attention in school. Eat healthy foods and drink plenty of water. Enjoy the sunshine! Find time to go outside and exercise everyday. During car rides, play mental math games. Ask your child addition and subtraction problems, as well as time and money questions. Read, read, read! Read to get information, read for enjoyment, read to your child, read with your child, and listen to your child read. Just read! Studies show that success in school is directly related to the amount of time students read and understand what they have read. When reading to your child, remember to ask higher-level types of questions, to make sure they have a deeper understanding of the text. A special thanks goes to all of our families who came to our Storybook Parade. We are looking forward to a great year!
