Presently, our sensational second graders are turning up the heat in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program. As we continue to meet our reading goals, reading AR books at school and home, and completing the AR tests are essential for improving students’ reading comprehension skills. As we begin 2015, we are working on many different reading skills in both fiction and non-fiction genres. A great reader is able to read a variety of different types of text. Please continue to encourage your child to read at home daily for a minimum of 20 minutes and to practice asking questions and responding to the text. i-Ready is an additional resource for students to practice and engage in reading and mathematics lessons. Research states students who utilize i-Ready have a significantly higher percentage of student achievement. So let’s continue to read, read, read!
