In January, the Pre-K class reviewed the school rules. We started a new circle time routine featuring our favorite friends, The Letter People! Children volunteered to do a dance and ‘rap’ to the alphabet while pointing to the letter and letter person named with the magic pointer. We reviewed procedures and safety rules and practiced fire and tornado drills. We met our new letter, Mr. D who loves to dance and dig for dinosaurs. We talked about attributes with our toy dinosaurs and those featured in big books. Students were asked questions helping them to think about targeted concepts (long/short, big/small). During Independent Play, we were introduced to two new play items, donut match and dinosaurs. We learned concepts such as ‘same’ and ‘different.’ The AM class was so happy to meet our new helper, Ms. Charlotte. She is loved and so appreciated by our students. She helps children with the following play skills: choosing a preferred item, inviting/accepting invitations to play, respecting the space of others and cleaning up after ourselves. We are so excited to start our new theme in February: ALL ABOUT ME! We will also meet Ms. V, make valentines and learn our vowels.
