As we enter into the 2nd quarter, we look forward to beginning an engaging unit on Community. The students will be learning about what it takes to run a business and manage their money. They will learn how to write checks, make deposits, maintain a check register, use a debit card, and spend money-just like adults do in the real world. In all, the students will learn how to exist in a thriving community that enjoys a healthy exchange of goods, services, resources, and money. They will use this newly acquired knowledge during our field trip to J.A. BizTown, which is on November 12th. We are so excited for the kids to experience this simulated community that demonstrates how people live, work, trade, and share.
On a final note, please remember to continue to check your child’s homework each night for accuracy and completion. Also, don’t forget to have them logon to i-Ready Reading, Tenmarks, and Reflex Math, every evening, so that they can continue to grow in their academic skills, fluency, and knowledge.
